Statistics released today by the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) show national home sales set another all-time record in January 2021.
Summary:
- National home sales rose 2% on a month-over-month (m-o-m) basis in January.
- Actual (not seasonally adjusted) activity was up 35.2% year-over-year (y-o-y).
- The number of newly listed properties dropped by 13.3% from December 2020 to January 2021.
- The MLS® Home Price Index (HPI) rose 1.9% m-o-m and was up 13.5% y-o-y.
- The actual (not seasonally adjusted) national average sale price posted a 22.8% y-o-y gain in January.

During this year of unprecedented uncertainty, the Kidney Foundation, BC & Yukon branch was very pleased to have had the generous and continued support from Hafez Panju again in 2020. Since 2008, Hafez continues to contribute a percentage of his sales commission very generously to the BC Branch, bringing his total contribution to over $28,592.

In the first month of 2021, Metro Vancouver’s* housing market continued the pattern set at the end of last year with home sale activity outpacing the supply of homes listed for sale.
The Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver (REBGV) reports that residential home sales in the region totalled 2,389 in January 2021, a 52.1 per cent increase from the 1,571 sales recorded in January 2020, and a 22.8 per cent decrease from the 3,093 homes sold in December 2020.
Last month’s sales were 36.4 per cent above the 10-year January sales average.
